Itinerary:

Day 1: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Tram Tau, Thac Ba lake: Hanoi Motorbike tour to Moc Chau

We begin the tour at about 9 o’clock, after somewhere 40 minutes in the busy streets of Hanoi you will hit Highway No8, from here, the traffic is much better as we head straight to the countryside. Stop for a quick coffee and we keep rolling on some backroads through rice fields to Hoa Binh province where the terrain becomes mountainous, from here the sceneries are much greener and decorated with charismatic karst mountains. After a nice lunch in Ky Son town, we will have chance to do some challenging offroad via local farms in the mountains. In the afternoon, we head to Thung Khe pass on National Road 6 to Moc Chau, if time allows, we take a turn to Road 450 for a backroad ride to a spectacular view to the majestic Hoa Binh lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in Vietnam, formed when the dam blocked the water to build the Hoa Binh hydroelectric power station.

Moc Chau, where we stay tonight is famous for its picturesque landscapes that include rolling hills, lush tea plantations, flower gardens, and vast grasslands. The area is particularly beautiful during the spring and autumn seasons when flowers bloom and the weather is pleasant. The region is renowned for its lovely climate, cultural diversity, tea production and dairy farms. The region is home to various ethnic minorities, including the Hmong, Thai, and Dao communities. This diversity adds to the cultural richness of Mộc Châu and provides opportunities for visitors to learn about the local traditions and way of life.

Day 2: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Tram Tau, Thac Ba lake: Moc Chau Motorbike tour to Tram Tau

We start the ride to day at 8 o’clock, in the morning we take some backroad through beautiful tea farms nearby, stop at Na Ka Plum Valley and visit some local ethnic villages to explore about lifestyle of people here. There will be numerous opportunities to stop and capture photographs of the breathtaking landscapes, traditional villages, and the local way of life. There are plenty of challenging offroads today, we can do some in the morning or afternoon or both depending on the real circumstances.

 After lunch, we have a stop at Chen pass, a stunning photo spot, located 1500 meters above sea level, this pass used to play an important part in the victory of Vietnamese military over the French colonizers in the famous Indochina war. From here we keep riding beside the sublime Da river to Ta Xua, Ta Xua is a mountainous area located in northwestern Vietnam, specifically in the Son La Province. It’s known for its stunning landscapes, lush greenery, and challenging trekking trails, making it a popular destination for adventurers and nature enthusiasts. If we are lucky enough with the weather, we will have chance to see spectacular landscapes of valleys and clouds on the way to Tram Tau, where we spend the night. Characterized by its rugged terrain, lush forests, and picturesque valleys Tram Tau is a popular destination for bikers, hikers, and nature enthusiasts due to its challenging trails and breathtaking scenery. Trạm Tấu is also known for its terraced rice fields, which are not only a source of livelihood for the local communities but also create stunning visual landscapes. We overnight in a hotel in the town, there’s a hot spring in the hotel where we can have a cold beer and soak ourselves in the nice warm mineral water to recover for the ride of the next day.

 Day 3: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Tram Tau, Thac Ba lake: Tram Tau motorbike tour to Vu Linh-Thac Ba lake

Breakfast will be served at 8 o’clock today and we begin the ride at somewhere 9 o’clock. From Tram Tau we roll on backroads challenging dirt track through remote villages and rice terraces, it’s a relaxing day today with short distance so we have more time for picture stops as well. We have lunch in Van Chan district, there are fruit farms located in this area so we have chances to stop by on the road to enjoy these nice local products.

In the afternoon head to Vu Linh on bumpy backroads through tea farms and acacia hills. Finish the day on a boat trip in Thac Ba Lake – one of the biggest lakes in Vietnam. Located in the north west of the country, formed in 1971 on Chay river to be the water supplier for the operation of Thac Ba hydropower plant. Thac Ba Lake has nearly 23,500 hectares in width with over 1,300 large and small green islands, the system of  beautiful caves hidden deeply in the limestone mountain ranges, boating on the Thac Ba lake is a lovely way to commune with nature. Relax yourself by a nice swim in the fresh and clean water here before a fancy dinner at the homestay of a Dao family in Vu Linh village. The Dao ethnic group in Vietnam has a total population of nearly 1 million people. They live mainly in the northern mountain provinces of Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Lai Chau and Tuyen Quang and the midland provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh.

Day 4: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Tram Tau, Thac Ba lake: Motorbike tour back to Hanoi

After breakfast we cruise southeast on Highway 2 and then branch off to the sleepy town of Phu Tho. We follow the edge of the Red River along the dyke, almost to the point where it merges with the Da River after which they flow together to Hanoi. By now we are very much in the lowlands of the delta plains and the north’s main agricultural areas. Harvest time here is a sea of activity. Crossing Da River by bridge, we pass through Son Tay and then return to Hanoi on the highway.
