Itinerary:

A motorbike tour to Moc Chau, Tram Tau, and Thac Ba Lake in Vietnam promises an unforgettable adventure through diverse landscapes and cultural experiences. Day 1: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Ngoc Chien, Thac Ba lake: Hanoi Motorbike tour to Moc Chau

We begin the tour at about 9 o’clock, after somewhere 40 minutes in the busy streets of Hanoi you will hit Highway No8, from here, the traffic is much better as we head straight to the countryside. Stop for a quick coffee and we keep rolling on some backroads through rice fields to Hoa Binh province where the terrain becomes mountainous, from here the sceneries are much greener and decorated with charismatic karst mountains. After a nice lunch in Ky Son town, we will have chance to do some challenging offroad via local farms in the mountains. In the afternoon, we head to Thung Khe pass on National Road 6 to Moc Chau, if time allows, we take a turn to Road 450 for a backroad ride to a spectacular view to the majestic Hoa Binh lake, one of the largest man-made lakes in Vietnam, formed when the dam blocked the water to build the Hoa Binh hydroelectric power station.

Moc Chau, where we stay tonight is famous for its picturesque landscapes that include rolling hills, lush tea plantations, flower gardens, and vast grasslands. The area is particularly beautiful during the spring and autumn seasons when flowers bloom and the weather is pleasant. The region is renowned for its lovely climate, cultural diversity, tea production and dairy farms. The region is home to various ethnic minorities, including the Hmong, Thai, and Dao communities. This diversity adds to the cultural richness of Mộc Châu and provides opportunities for visitors to learn about the local traditions and way of life.

Day 2: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Ngoc Chien, Thac Ba lake: Moc Chau Motorbike tour to Ngoc Chien

We start the ride to day at 8 o’clock, in the morning we take some backroad through beautiful tea farms nearby, stop at Na Ka Plum Valley and visit some local ethnic villages to explore about lifestyle of people here. There will be numerous opportunities to stop and capture photographs of the breathtaking landscapes, traditional villages, and the local way of life. There are plenty of challenging offroads today, we can do some in the morning or afternoon or both depending on the real circumstances. We roll on vibrant National Roads 6 and 37 until lunchtime.

Alongside the mighty Da river, we keep riding on winding roads via Muong Chum, It Ong to Ngoc Chien through vibrant rice fields and lovely small villages of local Thai people – one of 54 different tribes in Vietnam. For those who keen on history materials, we can take another turn via Son La city to visit the relic of Son La prison, where the French imprisoned Vietnamese patriots during Indochina war.

Ngoc Chien, where we stay tonight is a village located at an altitude of about 1500-1800 meters above sea level, blessed by nature with very fresh and unspoiled scenery. Coming here, visitors are immediately mesmerized by the beauty of terraced fields and lovely stilt houses of the local Thai community here. Nature really favors Ngoc Chien when bestowing this place with beautiful scenery and scenes of natural hot mineral springs. Hot water in Ngoc Chien has an average temperature of 50 – 70 degrees Celsius, suitable for visitors to relax and relieve stress effectively. And a special treatment we are delighted to offer you at the accommodation tonight is a nice homestay with a hot spring in here, imagine spending your time in a hot spring after 3 days of offroading, you won’t be disappointed!

Day 3: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Ngoc Chien, Thac Ba lake: Ngoc Chien motorbike tour to Vu Linh

We say goodbye to the pretty village of Ngoc Chien, riding through beautiful local roads we head to the first highlight of the day – Khau Pha pass, located in Mu Cang Chai district, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, is an attractive destination. Spanning over 30 kilometers, the pass stuns travelers with its beautiful and poetic scenery, where high mountains stand on one side and the other side is a deep valley covered with fluffy white clouds around the year.

After conquering the mesmerizing winding corners of Khau Pha pass, the wheels are going to take you to a beautiful village called Tu Le, which is famous for producing one of the best sticky rice strains in Vietnam. FYI, sticky rice plays an important part in Vietnam’s agri-based culture, it appears in almost every family’s meals on our traditional holidays. Steamed sticky rice, salt,…are common offerings that we Vietnamese dedicate to our ancestors following our belief in veneration of the dead.

We stop for a lunch break in Nghia Lo which is 50 kilometers from Tu Le a lovely place which is well-known for the charming Xoe Thai dance, from Nghia Lo, we head straight to our homestay in Vu Linh village. When we hit our homestay, let’s have a cold beer to cool down and then we take a boat ride in Thac Ba lake, stop by an island for swimming and discover the particularities of this area: the way villagers paddle their boats, the exotic and odd animals living around, the quiet and peaceful beauty of this huge lake, the lifestyle of the Dao among the thousands of islets. We will have an unforgettable dinner with the hosts, who are really big drinkers, the hospitality here is just unbelievable!

Day 4: Vietnam Offroad Motorbike Tour to Moc Chau, Ngoc Chien, Thac Ba lake: Motorcycle Tour back to Hanoi

After breakfast we cruise southeast on Highway 2 and then branch off to the sleepy town of Phu Tho. We follow the edge of the Red River along the dyke, almost to the point where it merges with the Da River after which they flow together to Hanoi. By now we are very much in the lowlands of the delta plains and the north’s main agricultural areas. Harvest time here is a sea of activity. Crossing Da River by bridge, we pass through Son Tay and then return to Hanoi on the highway.
