Itinerary:
Day 01: Luang Prabang motorbike tour to Sayabouly (L, D)
Pick up from the hotel at 07:30 an start by riding out of town and follow the road of Sayabouly. You will enjoy paddies fields on the way and you will reach stunning mountain point of view and go through remote villages. Arrival in the early afternoon for lunch at the Elephant Conservation Center. There, you will enjoy activities with elephants during the afternoon and a quiet evening in a truly wild area close to a beautiful lake.
When we arrive at the Center by motorbike, you will have time to settle into your private bungalow before lunch is served. After lunch, the staff of the ECC will give you an introduction on the current situation of the elephants in Laos as well as what projects have been set up to improve that.
After the introduction talk you will visit the elephant hospital. Our Laotian Vet Assistant or our Biologist will Introduce you to their world and tell you more about common and uncommon injuries and their respective treatments. It is also the perfect time to ask any questions you have about the biology of the elephants.
You will then observe the elephants’ daily bath and learn more about our giant guests’ playful characters. Elephants are surprisingly good swimmers and love water. They also use bath time to socialize and strengthen ties in the herd.
Now it’s time for them to walk back to the forest. After a short trek the mahouts will decide on a place where the elephants can graze for a while. The guide will tell you a little about the background of each elephant. They have all worked hard before they came here. See if you are already able to recognize the elephants while observing them.
Before dinner, take a moment to take in the surroundings from one of our viewpoints. You can also go for a swim in the lake, take out a canoe, or visit the museum where one of the staff will give a small presentation on our conservation efforts. If you want you can ask your guide to take the boat out on the lake. During meal time, feel free to ask your unresolved questions to the staff and share one of our delicious Lao style cocktails!
Overnight at Elephant Conservation Center
Day 02: Sayabouly motorbike tour to Vang Vieng (B)
Breakfast – Meet the elephants in the forest – Observe elephants bathing Socialization Area Observation.
On the second day, you will meet up with the elephants in the forest. After spending the night grazing in the jungle, it is time for another bath. Enjoy strolling together with these magnificent creatures in their natural environment.
When they have finished their morning ritual, we take you back to the Center by boat.
Special note: Medical Care of the elephants at the Elephant Hospital is only carried out by qualified vets. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to participate in this activity. Thank you for your understanding
Enjoy the stunning scenery on the new road going to Vang Vieng passing through remote villages and have a stop to amazing viewpoints on the valley (altitude of 1900m).
Arrive in Vang Vieng in the afternoon and enjoy the view of Karstic Mountains which surround the city and Nam Song River. Enjoy free time to discover the city and pass the bamboo bridge by walking to discover the green area that surrounds Vang Vieng city.
Day 3: Vang Vieng motorbike tour to Phoukone (B)
Start from Vang Vieng and enjoy a long ride on the beautiful and mythic road 13, driving to Kasi District and upper north till Phoukone city. The view and landscape in Vang Vieng Valley is stunning and karstik mountains surrounds you during all the road. Have a great inside on arrival on what is a simple village of Laos and get a glimpse of villagers lifestyle.
Day 4 : Phoukone motorcycle tour to Luang Prabang (B)
Start with an early departure to be in Luang Prabang around noon. This last part of the road 13 is a mountainous leg that offers great scenery and a technical curvy ride. Finish your trip getting memorable adventure on Lao road and pass through many villages on the way before heading to Luang Prabang.
